RIGER's sound is characterized by a dominating keyboard as well as
rhythm-influenced Thrash & Death Metal. The lyrical side of the band is
based on legends from the Nordic Mythology (which led to the name RIGER),
on interpretations of fantasy novels like "Silmarillion" & own views on
world & nature.
RIGER started its career in Frankfurt on Oder, in June 1996 when Jan
Kersten (bass), Ingo Tauer (vocals), Roberto Liebig (keyboards), Stefan
Schieck (drums), Peter Patzelt (guitar), & Nicola Jahn (guitar) decided to
realize their ideas of hard lugubrious music. 3 months later the first
demo-tape "Die Belagerung" was released & very well-received! Later taking
the chance of often gaining experience on stage, the band met &
gigged/played with other cult outfits (such as: Helheim, Impending Doom,
Nox Intempesta, Purgatory, Luror, etc.), finding more & more ans for their
music!
