While most ''retro'' projects are something bashed out hurriedly in-between records (with more time & effort usually spent trying to decide what beer should be swilled than on the songs themselves), not so with BLOODBATH! Bloodbath is a premier assembly of talent from the Swedish Black/Death Metal scene (Mikael hails from OPETH; Anders from KATATONIA & DIABOLICAL MASQUERADE; Jonas from KATATONIA & OCTOBER TIDE; & drummer Dan Swano from EDGE OF SANITY, INFESTDEAD, DIABOLICAL MASQUERADE, etc.!), all of whom must be workaholics based on their inability to rest! At a convenient moment in early 1999 between all of their respective recording commitments, the 4 fiends convened in Swano's own Sanctuary to record the first 3 songs under the guise of BLOODBATH & their ''Breeding Death'' EP now unleashed upon you!

Offered as a testament & tribute to the Death Metal style so prolific in the USA a decade ago (early '90s), there is an inherent feel to their material which makes the pulse quicken & the adrenaline surge! The band had a great time writing & recording the material, but it's done with such reverence that you're instantly drawn back to the time when it didn't get much better than illegible logos, gory artwork, chunky grinding guitar riffs & gutteral growls! These tracks will surely just whet the appetite for even more & despite their busy schedules, the members have hinted that a full-length album may be forthcoming if the demand should exist! As the band themselves state: ''Breeding Death is a tribute to the old-school Death Metal that reigned the late '80s & onward! Brutality comes through simplicity!!!''
