ARCH ENEMY Doomsday Machine (+ fold-out mini-POSTER!)

Description:
Metal titans ARCH ENEMY-- whose dynamic mixture of melody and aggression has earned them massive critical acclaim, a rabid worldwide fanbase and a slot on Summer 2005's Ozzfest-- have unleashed 'DOOMSDAY MACHINE', the defining moment of their career! Guitarist and founding-member Mike Amott had this to say about the new album: "I think all great Metal needs that killer mix of classic riffs and ripping solos, something that has been a bit of a dying art recently. We did our best to recreate that mix on this new album. I am really happy with the songs, and I believe we have found the right balance of melody and brutality... the ARCH ENEMY trademark! Welcome to the DOOMSDAY MACHINE!"

ARCH ENEMY have been called "one of the most important bands in Metal" by Alternative Press and "Metal messiahs" by Guitar World. All of this high praise, along with the exposure on MTV2's Headbangers' Ball (including the program's most recent affiliated tour), continues to attract an ever-expanding audience to the band's unique style of Metal. Expect their stellar musicianship and unparalleled live shows to continue garnering them new legions of fans throughout Ozzfest!

This ENHANCED CD includes a fold-out color POSTER and a special exclusive link to desktops, buddy icons, and a photo gallery!

5 out of 5 stars "ONE FOR ALL - ALL FOR ONE - WE ARE STRONG - WE A 02/06/2009
Reviewer: Pamela Torres   from Hudson, FL
If my memory serves me correctly, "Doomsday Machine," which came out in 2005 through Century Media Records, was the first Arch Enemy album I ever purchased. It didn't take me long to become a big fan of the group, and I added other Arch Enemy CDs to my collection in a matter of months. For anyone unfamiliar with this Swedish 5-piece, it consists of Michael and Christopher Amott on lead and rhythm guitars, Sharlee D'Angelo on bass, and drummer Daniel Erlandsson. As a woman, I can honestly say that what truly attracted me to Arch Enemy's titanic sound is frontwoman and writer Angela Gossow, whose roaring lioness vocals could only have been matched by the late great Wendy O. Williams of the Plasmatics. Now that the introductions are out of the way, let's get to the review itself! Set in a bleak post-apocalyptic world where abandoned skyscrapers and vehicles are reduced to ancient ruin, Arch Enemy's "Doomsday Machine" is an unstoppable heavy metal juggernaut. From start to finish, the band's use of ferocious power riffs, harmonious solos, and deceptively simple lyrics can blast away listeners like a blinding sandstorm destroying everything in its path. Songs like "Nemesis" and "Machtkampf" act as a warcry against the oppressive rules of our parasitic government. The chilling "Skeleton Dance" and "Mechanic God Creation" ooze blood, sweat and tears out of an existence where human life is devalued, emotion is replaced by cybernetic steel, and ordinary people are easily replaced like disposable computer parts. And of course any soulless army can easily march across oceans of time to tracks like "My Apocalypse," "Carry the Cross," and "Slaves of Yesterday." I recommend this CD as a top favorite for hard rock freaks everywhere as well as A.E's 2007 follow-up "Rise of the Tyrant."
