	From the realms of sleep and death...	11/22/2004

	VOND is a concept that is truly refreshing... though not black metal itself its mood is certainly just as dark as anything in the genre. It can best be described as nightmares somehow being recorded sonically; a muffled/staticky ambience is ebbing and flowing behind several different screams and voice narrations. Most of it sounds as if we're buried under the deep ocean. The voices are metallic and cold and describe/recreate various stories; from the electric chair death process to the butcher of Woodside to my favorite, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. This is accomplished by a lot of samples that are in the forefront; the screaming, chanting and echoing interspersed amidst the narrations give it a bottomless, infinite quality. It will really make you reflect on the brutal realities of mortality. Again, it sounds like a NIGHTMARE. I feel this is a dark album in an altogether new way and everyone I've exposed this album to is fascinated by it.

	This is easily and by far the most unique album I own. That's very creative to just make an entire album out of samples [and droning Atmospheric Dark-Ambient musick!] While Thrill Kill Kult, Manson and Electric Hellfire used them to complement their hilariously evil industrial music, Mortiis makes it the jist of the album. I was surprised when I first listened to it, as I was expecting a keyboard piece. A suggestion if you have a multi-disc changer is to listen to Mortiis and Vond albums to relax to; it works great! (kid-tested, mother-approved, as always.) Mortiis, etc. is good for your imagination. To hell with "I Dream of Jeanie;" when you listen to this you'll dream of dead women! I interviewed Mortiis once, interesting fellow!
