I expected awesomeness and I got exactly that with this newest work of art by this great Latvian Pagan / Folk Metal band. It sure did take a long time as they had last released an album in 2000 but after hearing this I have to say it was well worth the wait, afterall, it is said that good things take time. Following a short intro the listener is presented with some of the best thick and juicy riffing that it is nearly impossible to hold back the headbanging ! For variety and to add a special touch as the band tells of old mythological Latvian folklore, they use different instruments like mouthharp, bagpipes, something called a kokle (I have no idea what that is) and another unknown to me instrument called giga. This is the perfect Folk / Pagan Metal album ! Of course these guys sing in Latvian but what I really like is that they also put the song titles and lyrics in English so I can read along and share in the experience. Kudos to the band for a brilliant album ! If you like bands like PRIMORDIAL, old CRUACHAN, FALKENBACH or ADORNED BROOD then you NEED SKYFORGER in your collection ! Recommended tracks: ALL
High speed folk-inspired heathen metal demonstrating adept instrumention that makes use of full guitar melodies and melodies alongside bagpipes and kokles. Just as their three previous releases where thematically conceived, this one pays tribute to the ancient gods and the worldview that lived until the 19th century.

Since iv heard "Semigalls Warchant" Skyforger has been my favorite band. I own each of there records and every release gets better. They are fucking beyond sick! There blend of pagan folk and metal is phenomenal. I myself am Latvian and Lithuanian by blood. Skyforger makes me proud to have this heritage!

The best pagan metal for years!

What concerns this CD by famous Latvian pagan metal brigade, then after long wait, i couldn't hold my breath, when i rushed home with CD in the hands. After epic their second album Latvian Riflemen, which i think is the best black heavy trashing metal in the style ever, btw released by MASCOT MUSIC, i really wanted to know what they will make this time. And: I have to say, review is very right! This is something fucking special!
Even Bathory could not make this better, i guess.
This time Skyforger has done again great work,and i hope that anytime in future they will play in near my house, so I can go and feel pagan anger at its best form! Long live Skyforger!
