This is true fast, freezing, melodic black/death metal. Every song is a masterpiece, especially Nights blood. A real classic album , I say album of the year

5 out of 5 stars THE KINGS OF BLACKEND DEATH METAL!!! 09/21/2003
Reviewer: Seth   from NEW YORK
Andrew over there pretty much covered all the details of this album so all I will add is this: This album came out in 1995 and it is now 2003, if you still don't have this album in some way or form you are either a complete fu*cking idiot or you have been in a coma for the last decade!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Icy, cold, freezing. Phenomenal and influential!! 05/25/2003
Reviewer: Andrew   from Rohnert Park, CA USA
Blackened death metal? Death-inspired black metal? Many debates have been caused as to how to classify this album. Forget the labeling, this album is phenomonally cold, outstanding, and influential. Dissection are able to invoke the coldest atmosphere imaginable, hence the fitting cover. Meanwhile, the album balances swedish-death melodies with blackened brutality and blast assaults. There are also traces of classically-inspired riffs, without seeming overboard or contrived. Overall a great album with killer atmosphere, dynamics, production, and consistency. I feel that this album was influential to black metal in general, but specific evidence can be found in Naglfar, Dawn, and Thy Primordial (all great bands themselves). Get this classic now!!!
