CARNIVORE - a melodic, yet always brutal Thrash metal band formed by Peter Steele (Type O Negative) in 1982. The album has traditionally metal-sounding Thrash / HC hybrid attack, drawing inspiration from Black Sabbath and Judas Priest. Based primarily around the concept of life after a thermonuclear war, CARNIVORE thrust its listener into a corrupt society where rage, murder and cannibalism were accepted as means of survival.

The first Type O Negative album, 'Slow Deep and Hard' was partially composed from material originally written for CARNIVORE. This long-overdue reissue album includes also a BONUS Jimi Hendrix cover-version of 'Manic Depression'.
