Sweden's Dark Tranquillity with their newest album (1997) on Osmose, & right off the bat, they explode out of your stereo speakers with their excellent brand of melodic heaviness, harmonic grind, & lightning, breakneck speediness! These guys can do no wrong as they get better (musically & fidelity-wise) with each recording! 12 songs for a total running time over 46 minutes will only leave you panting & gasping for more! Of course, listen for the startling & beautiful voice of Sara Svensson (never enough!)-- the perfect & refreshing compliment to the breathless brutality that permeates throughout! Sure to be a perennial favorite for fans of high-energy, high-quality extreme metal! *(Note: Sara Svensson also sings on Oxiplegatz's "Worlds and Worlds" CD.)

The fourth release on Osmose, a four-song mini-CD by this technical/melodic death metal quintet from Sweden. Only the very short intro "Zodijackyl Light" appears on the new full-length album "The Mind's I" which follows this MCD. As always, this is great high-energy, heavy, brutal, & blisteringly speedy harmonic grind that more than makes up for the absence of At The Gates!

Swedish quintet presenting blackened deathmetal similar to In Flames but with more dynamics, as less-folky acoustic guitars & clean vocals are utilized more prominently, & all the while masterfully blended with brutal vocals & deathish rock. The addition of stirring female vocalist (a worthy challenge to rival Kari Rueslatten from 3rd. & the Mortal, & Storm!) on a couple of tracks lends an ethereal atmospheric to the power & bombast of this 1993 classic "Skydancer".
