DREAM INTO DUST
"No Man's Land"
From the Misanthropy Records
Newsletter/Mail-Order Catalog (Spring Equinox 1997):
"Hail & farewell to DECEMBER.
The 1995 'Hope for Nothing' cassette [preceded]... Elfenblut unleased
'River of Blood/Venus in Chains', a limited-edition 7-inch on blood-red
vinyl... Because of the evolving sound & in order to avoid confusion with
various bands of similar name, that project [December] will be no more. In
its place is DREAM INTO DUST. As before, they have nihilistic lyrics &
downtuned instruments such as acoustic guitars, white noise, strings, bass
effects, & unusual perscussion. The results are not as experimental than
you might think, but no less unique. A this mini-CD precedes a full-length
on Misanthropy later this year!"
A must for fans of gothic-oriented dark music (not exactly Dark Metal, but
similarities to U.K. & German gothic Metal will satisfy fans of this genre)!

DESIDERII MARGINIS
"Songs Over Ruins"
Cold Meat Industry #56 - newest
for 1997! Delicate, atmospheric dark-ambient very similar to Raison
D'Etre's "Prospectus I" album! A cold, desolate density is presented to
give you the feeling of subterranean catacombs with some Gregorian-like
structures & harmonies. A floating darkness leads to suspension of time &
light, & sometimes ritualistic, though majestically symphonic in a subtle,
almost subliminal creepiness. Extra-ordinary!
Import from Sweden (Cold Meat Industry, of course!)

"Roses By Chaos Spawned"
Latest
offering by the truly cultish Memento Mori label (imprint of Dark Vinyl
Records Germany; see also Profane Grace, Valefor, Die Wappen des Thodt,
Runes Order, & Die Sonne Satans)... The notoriously infamous Karsten Hamre
from Norway, always managing to elude local Police & PC lynch-mobs,
presents his latest anthology of epic neo-chamber musick with profound
poetry! For old & new fans alike, this album will not disappoint as
neo-classical themes & cathedral oriented fanfare shine forth with
Karsten's solemn intonations (& occasional female soprano) to launch
listeners to new heights of atmospheric vision! German import.

"As Life Fades Away"
Karsten Hamre's newest
album on Draenor Productions (aka Napalm Records), Austria! This time a
more subdued affair of crystalline, delicate, but still powerful
Classical-oriented neo-Chamber instrumental mood music which takes much
inspiration from the historical period of J.S.Bach & Scarlatti! Karsten
takes over all songwriting, arranging, poetry, & artwork to understated,
but sublime grandness! Lyrics/poetry in the accompanying booklet must be
READ, as they are not "HEARD" along with the instrumental music. "As Life
Fades Away" is a melancholy as well as majestic flight into elegant,
almost-tragic atmospheres! Penitent's BEST work to date!
Imported from Austria (on Draenor Productions/Napalm Records).

"Melancholia"
New for 1997 (& hot on the heels of the most
excellent CDs previously released by Draenor/Napalm & the debut on Cold
Meat Industry), this amazing picture-disc album continues to present
high-quality new chamber-music with solemn Norwegian vocals. This time
more string-oriented (violins, cellos, etc.) with some funereal drumming,
"Melancholia" is a descriptive title for the subtle, but ecstacy achieving
atmospherics tempered by both melancholic & grand aspirations! Fans of
this emotional attack may want to check out the equally affecting Nirnaeth CD.
Imported from Germany (on Prophecy Productions).
Picture Disc LP ..... $10.00
The original
import disc on Prophecy Productions Germany finally available by popular
demand!

"The Beauty of Pain"
The second album by this popular Cold Meat Industry band from Norway (this time released on Draenor Productions, Austria) presenting sublime neo-classical piano music & solemn, melancholy poetry. Minimal vocals by the notorious Karsten Hamre (having had lots of problems with the Norwegian authorities), while the elegant & stately music by Asbjorn Log is clearly influenced by the piano masters such as Chopin & Liszt. For fans of immaculate, high-quality music (fans of Die Verbannten Kinder Eva's & Wongraven)!
Austrian Import (on Draenor Productions).
