Possibly the
most famous Death Metal band from the Norwegian underground scene? At the
end of the 80's these guys performed their first gig and by 1992 the rush
was over, but not without leaving a big impression... Of course they
featured several now famous bandmembers as Abbath (Immortal), Varg Vikernes
(Burzum), and Jorn Tonsberg (Hades Almighty) at several times in their
line-up... But the music counted: harsh, brutal blackened Death Metal
certainly influenced by Carcass and Morbid Angel. Their legendary 7-inch EP
is now a collectors' item and even the picture disc LP of last year is a
collector's item by now, too!!!

If "Pure Holocaust" (their 2nd. album) & "Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism" (debut) didn't put these guys on the map of True Norwegian Black Metal pantheon of new Metal gods, then "Battles In the North" most certainly did-- & solidly as an iceberg at the north pole! The music on this album is so brutally fast that it totally crushes any unsuspecting neophyte who has yet to acquire a taste for extreme speed-grind blackened "Holocaust Metal"! You can't go wrong with songs like "Blashyrkh (Mighty Ravendark)" & the title-track, "Battles In the North" where Demonaz's reptilian vokills rival those of Tormentor's Attila Csihar on Mayhem's "Dom Mysteriis..." album!
