Blackened Grindcore from Canada (the band broke up in late 1996), originally released by Osmose & then licensed by JLAmerica in 1993. According to the Black Metal List, this CD version purportedly also includes the 1989 demo "Blood Upon the Alter" (yup, they probably meant "Altar"). This is similar to other brutal Canadian (& Australian, too) BM/grind bands, or can compare to a primitive Impaled Nazarene darkness or atmosphere. Still worth checking out as an essential example from Canada, & to help complete your thorough BM collection!

Surprisingly great first album by this Pennsylvania deathmetal quartet that has currently metamorphosised into one of America's best Black Metal bands. A great recording that was unfairly overlooked by the majority of big-label-oriented metalheads back when this was released by Turbo/JLAmerica (containing full-color tri-fold booklet with lyrics to all songs) in 1993; shows clearly the proficient calibre of the band even back then. This is truly extreme deathgrind/thrash with technically adept instrumentation able to hurdle beyond raw, albeit more-than-adequate recording production.

Features guest vocals by Mitch Harris (Napalm Death) on three songs (including the truly blackened doom of ''Sacrifice''!). Over 50 headbanging minutes of Satanic mayhem & goat-worshipping insanity!

Well-recorded & well-written anti-christian songs about Satan & (gasp!) killing priests, sung with grim blackened deathgrowl (not low) vokills! A good dark atmosphere that still holds up in comparison to current modern Black Metal.

Brutal blackened death-grind from San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico's cemetary surfing trio. Recorded right before Christmas (when studio rates are at their cheapest, no doubt) in 1992, this is not your average Carcass-loving grindcore band; spiced up with symphonic/melodic-Greek Black Metal style keyboards, & dark atmospheric doom (complete with Iommi/Sabbath-y guitar licks/riffs!) this a refreshing re-discovery of an obscure, but promising band that got overlooked in a climate of Morrisound/Tampa-wannabe bands proliferating the [at that time] trendy scene. A simpler comparison: think Autopsy with keyboards! For true blackened-grind collectors only!
