Ignore the worthless review of this excellent CD
in a recent issue of Terrorizer magazine! Yes, we do agree that OTYG may
be Sweden's version of Storm (the classic & CULT Fenriz, Satyr, & Kari
collaboration!), but there is a greater dynamic of instrumentation (violin,
mouth-harp, etc.), plus the songs do have that rousing anthemic spirit that
rivals Storm & Isengard! Cia Hedmark may not be Kari, but Cia contributes
much to the heroic atmosphere with her bittersweet violin-playing (in
addition to her equally skillful, totally dreamy soprano vocals)! Clear
"Viking" vocal chants by guitarist Vintersorg (similar to Isengard & old
Einherjer)! Of course the booklet contains all the Swedish lyrics; another
essential release on Napalm Records!!!

SHOULD sound like (WITHOUT the affected Sisters of Mercy baritone voice,
thank you!)-- just dreamy, atmospheric melodies floating over brutality &
strength! Heavy like early My Dying Bride & Paradise Lost, Tristania is
the royal progeny of that early classic Death Doom sound, but with the new
gothic beauty of Theatre of Tragedy, Celestial Season, & The Gathering (but

vertised in Terrorizer #43 magazine) of very melodic, but still raging Nordic Metal (similar to Gehenna plus Dark Funeral) from Sweden... BUT: what sets Siebenbürgen apart from the others is the etherial & operatic female lead vocalist who presents a very refreshing & unique sound that can only be described as "Celtic Gypsy"! Grim male vocals duet with the female singer for a very heroic, haunting, & flavorfully Gaelic/Celtic in its folkiness. I guess the closest comparison would have to be: In the Woods plus Celestial Season! This is definitely for fans of Gehenna, Dismal Euphony, Ancient Wisdom, Die Verbannten Kinder Eva's, Morgul, & Welten Brand!

High quality attack equal to Old Man's Child, Ragnarok (Norway), Dimmu Borgir, Abigor, & Summoning! Excellently recorded (loud levels, man!) with a great mix of splashy, thundering drums, etherial female choir-samples (similar to Emperor!), acoustic guitars, wolves howling in the distant, real violins, wicked guitar grind, & horrifying grim vocals over the truly explosive blasting intensity! This is one Napalm's absolute best releases, & Napalm's answer to Cradle of Filth!
