Melodic & lyrical, albeit HEAVY Norwegian black metal featuring Tjodalv from Dimmu Borgir! OMC's 2nd. release, this mini-album was actually recorded before their first full-length "Born of the Flickering" *(Digi-pak version will be available here soon!) was released, & "In the Shades of Life" is arguably a better recording both in song-writing & fidelity-wise! The songs here are much more classical-oriented, with lots of acoustic guitars, grand piano, & Viking singing. Compares favorably to Enslaved, Einherjer, Dimmu Borgir, & Dissection-- raging Viking thrash with finesse & sophistication courtesy of Shagrath's Hot Records!
