WAR:
* JOKER & THE NECROPOLIS HORDE SAYS:
In 199 5 Black Metal luminary IT decided that the ultimate anti-xtian, anti-human musical statement had not yet been made. After recruiting two like-minded hawks, ALL (its partner in crime from VONDUR and OPHTHALAMIA) and BLACKMOON (ex-NECROPHOBIC/DARK FUNERAL) the only course of action was to then declare WAR! The first target objective was obvious, the Abyss studios in Sweden. Immediately after the band's bloody inception, studio-time was booked, before securing the services of a rhythm section, or even compassing any new songs. Upon entering the studio, the Soldiers of Satan quickly allied themselves with a couple of loose canons: MIKAEL & PETER of HYPOCRISY/THE ABYSS! With their forces now massed, the time to mount an attack was at hand. The studio session was a baptism in fire. The band, who emerged victorious with their amazing mega-violent Black Metal, ''Total War'', that immediately established them as one of the most explosive units on the Black Metal front. The album was hailed by critics and fans alike as a tactical strike of militaristic Metal genius!
The concept of War has always been that it is an allied force of Black Metal elite, so it was especially crippling when main maniac IT decided to leave the Black Metal scene forever. He left the band with an honorable discharge, leaving the remaining troops to formulate their new battle plan. Rather than resting on their laurels and letting temporary setbacks force the m to retreat, they decided instead to press their advantage and attack with renewed valor. Enlisting the service of Impious of IN AETERNUM on bass and Lars of Hypocrisy on drums, the War arsenal was once again in full-strength! Returning to the Abyss due to its tactical advantage and proven killing power, War mounted a major offensive which yielded the gloriously savage ''We Are War'' album. Though the release was temporarily put on ice to to its various treaty negotiations, War is back in full swing, with all guns blazing. With War recording exclusively for Necropolis Records in the coming years don't look for the body count to slow down any time soon... DIS-MISSED!

A classic album dedicated to Euronymous &
Dead (released by Avantgarde Music in 1994); in our opinion a BETTER album
than "Via Dolorosa"-- this excellent debut "A Journey In Darkness" is
doomier & dark in a space-y, SABBATH-y way! Recorded at Unisound Studios
in 1993 by Dan Swano (a side-note: executive producer is Roberto Mammarella
from Monumentum), this is IT (also in Abruptum & Vondur), Shadow, Winter, &
Mourning at their most cutting-edge (& still fresh!) atmospheric attack!
Fans of early Saint Vitus, Pentagram, & Witchfinder General will really
want to check this out! Killer raspy grim, still brutal Blackened vocals!
Sparse, BLACK ambience with doomy grind dirgy-ness! Majestic, melancholy
keyboards & scary libretto for that desolate, abandoned feeling of dread &
foreboding! What else do you want? Get this NOW, or KILL your sorry self!
Imported from Italy (on Avantgarde Music).

"To Elishia"
Picture of woman (supposedly IT's girlfriend) nude and bloody! HURRY!!
LONG SLEEVE SHIRT ....TEMP N/A
Sweden's version of true Norwegian style, similar to "Viking metal" of Enslaved, Arcturus & Storm. Blistering guitar power by IT (also in Abruptum & Vondur) displaying his encyclopedic virtuosity of electric guitar riffage throughout rock history (shades of Tony Iommi even!). "Via Dolorosa" signals a new direction for BM that is progressive (almost psychedelic in some parts!), & thick with highly technical structures. Also included as an added bonus track is a ripping, scathing version of Mayhem's classic "Deathcrush" (this version by Ophthalamia is also found on "Nordic Metal- A Tribute to Euronymous" compilation CD)!
U.S. Version on Century Media.
