Dark enchanting atmospheric Black Metal in the True Nordic vein from this trio of Spaniards (from Barcelona). The first half of this mini-CD is straight out of Emperor's "In The Nightside Eclipse" album with great vocals that is the exact blend of Ihsahn (from Emperor) & Dani (from Cradle of Filth)! The other half is comparable to Gehenna's "1st. Spell" (melodic BM at mid-tempo) or the neo-classical instrumental interludes on Dimmu Borgir "Stormblast"! No exaggeration-- this'll please any discriminating fan of quality BM for sure (& we do wish for a full-length album soon)! 5 tunes of epic music with excellent sound & cool artwork/layout!

most discriminating connoisseur of "true" & "elite" sounds! We totally
agree with PAT: not only is The Heretic the BEST Black Metal band
currently from Spain, but also one of the better bands worldwide! This MCD
"containing four episodes about life & death," is a great debut to keep us

At last-- true [Nordic-influenced] Black Metal
on Repulse Records, Spain! In addition to sporting a great, previously
unused occult-oriented band name, this corpse-painted quintet succeed in
presenting superior speediness & atmospherics along the vein(s) of
Setherial & Emperor! A great recording with crystal clear drum parts,
wicked guitar grind with super-cool riffs, snarling reptilian vokills, just
the right hint of frosty keyboards, etc.! Surprisingly fresh, excellent &
worthy attack for true BM-hun

Blasting fast & very aggressive (pretty pissed-off, I'd say!) Black Metal from Spain. Similar to early Marduk grind mixed with Dissection's ringing (clean) electric guitars, so there is a melodic attack made more unique with Atman's original use of an operatic female soprano (in duet with raging & grim/screechy male vokills). An unsettling, racy atmosphere is elevated to the high-tension histrionics of Orff's "Carmina Burana" by the dynamic of Fuencisla's operatic pretensions to Koan Psy Atman's reptilian hissing! A surprisingly well-recorded release where the bass drums & toms rumble underneath metallic clanging of the splashy, bell-resonance cymbals, all while high-distortion guitars fly over solemn ritualistic keyboards & crystalline acoustic guitar arpeggios. A heady mix for discriminating, but open-minded connoisseurs of extreme Blackened Metal! *(a 9-song full-length!)

Fast & extreme Iberian Black Metal with a strong Nordic influence (Mayhem's "Deathcrush" album being the exact point of reference here) by a corpse-painted (Darkthrone shirt alert!) trio from Madrid, Spain. A thrashy, thundering & richly grinding celebration of Iberian pride & ancient culture in alliance with "Satanic" values (not overtly labelled in the liner-notes, but the lyrics bear this out) similar to LaVeyian philosophy. The evil & grim vokills are highly reminiscent of DEAD (from Morbid/Mayhem)! Surely, Xharathorn is Spain's answer to Behemoth or Darkthrone! *(5 songs with a total running time of 21 minutes)

Excellent mixture of neo-Goth oriented Doom & Black Metal by this quartet (Miguel on guitars/bass/keyboards, Fernando the lead vocalist, Mimón on acoustic guitar, & Rafa the engineer on electric guitar & keyboards) from Madrid, Spain. Both clear, deeply reverbed vocals, & reptilian grim (Nordic) vokills placed above either grindy electric guitars or acoustic guitars, & icy, floating keyboards, present a soaring, atmospheric & ambient Blackened Metal. With great melancholic & depressive melodies, this is pretty much in the same vein of Katatonia, Cultus Sanguine, or Lux Occulta. The last two songs feature the surprising appearance by Alicia with strong, rich female vocals providing a dreamy etherialness amidst the harmonic grind-- sounding exactly like Welten Brand! Comes in a high-quality full color package & picture-CD. *(4 Songs with a total running time of 22 minutes)
