The third CD (from 1994; following 1993's "Thy Mighty Contract" CD on Osmose) of melodic, but raging & angry Modern Black Metal from this (by now "world-famous") Greek trio with Magus Wampyr Daoloth (Necromantia, NAOS, Thou Art Lord, Diabolos Rising, Raism, Danse Macabre, etc.) as fourth member contributing keyboards & backing vocals. In comparison to their more recent album presenting a more accessible sound, this is raw, primitive basic BM; but ever present is Rotting Christ's signature darkness with dynamic tempo changes & wicked guitar grind. Rotting Christ's 5-song demo of early material (from 1989, re-issued by Unisound International in 1994 to combat numerous bootleg copies); this is pure Modern Black Metal in its infancy-- along the lines of early Mayhem, & influenced by the pioneers Bathory, Hellhammer/Celtic Frost, Kreator, Destruction, etc. This recording (re-mixed with lyrics published for the first time ever) stands up today & can be considered "brutal deathish ThrashBlack" as characterized by low Satanic growls, heavy grind, & basic blast-beats. Still surprisingly fresh & listenable-- an essential addition from an historical perspective. Ave Satanas!
