TRELLDOM
"Til Et Annet..."
Trelldom since
the very beginning, was a word which means true Norwegian Black Metal in
every way... The debut CD, 'Til Evighet' was released in 1995 on the
legendary Head Not Found, in a very classical design, black & white with
corpse-painted figures on the front! The debut on HNF has sold incredibly
well, even when Black Metal was not as common as it is nowadays!
'Til Et Annet...' the new album was recorded during 1998/1999 in several
sessions. Gaahl is still the premier member, maybe more or less the most
unholy member! He is very busy with other projects, including being the
vocalist of Gorgoroth!

SVARTSYN
"The True Legend"

This German trio (Ornias, Surth, & Draugen) look really great with their studs, black tunics, corpse-paint & long blonde hair (looks like the guys from Nastrond), but they can really support that look with their grindy, thick, reverb-drenched Black Metal thrash that has a dense, old feeling similar to the earliest Bathory. This is relentless, pounding Extreme Metal that is uncompromising in its evil & darkness! Corrosive grim & tortured vocals (that sound faraway as if in a deep pit) fly over the crunch-heavy brutality racing along like a runaway chariot, the only relief during the breakneck pace being occasional appearances by a guest keyboardist (Guran) & 2 enchanted female vocalists (Anna Svensson & Michaela Löfving!). An exhausting, but thoroughly satisfying blackened journey!
Imported from Berlin, Germany (on Folter Records).

d as 1 track: 22 minutes total running time) of excellent original extreme Dark & epic, majestically Doomy Black Metal from Turin, Italy! Explosive raging BM songs framed by suffocating Doom breaks & neo-classical interludes; dual male vokills, both brutal & grim, duel around etherial & ghostly female vocals by Monica Tavernito (More! More!) with lyrics of Tenere (death) & Rigor Mortis! Racing thunder-drums, heavy guitar-grind, floating icy or orchestral keyboards, & grandiose arrangements articulate subjects obsessed with death, blood, battle, doom, & darkness! This is like true Black Metal Elend! What more can you want, as this is sure to surprise the fuck out of you!

TWIN OBSCENITY
"For Blood, Honour and Soil"

Atle
Wiig-- vocals, guitar, keyboards; Jo-Arild Toennessen-- bass; & Knut Naesje--
drums.
Imagine the impenetrable, dark Norwegian woods by night, when only frail
streams of silver moonlight fall through to the ground. Animated by the
creatures of the night, one can also picture hordes of ancient soldiers
still riding on their war horses and desperately looking for a moment of
rest in their never ending battle. It is this sacred lore and setting that
Twin Obscenity have consistently captured and portrayed their music and
songs, and the band's new opus "For Blood, Honour and Soil" is an immensely
solid piece of work that indeed paints a grim picture of a battle-scarred
past.
This Stavanger, Norway based trio aren't just another Black Metal act
ob
sessed with Satanism and at the same time offering only mediocre
material and production, their strong roots go back to 1991 when
singer/guitarist/keyboardist Atle Wiig met bassist Jo-Arild Toennessen,
who had previously been playing with drummer Knut Naesje. A quick formation
ensued, and after auditioning a small number of extra members they decided
to stay as the original three-piece, thus bearing Twin Obscenity.
Over the next few years they recorded three demo tapes which furthered
their reputation as one of Norway's most talented black/death metal bands.
Their '93 recordings "Ruins and Behind The Castle Walls" were more in the
vein of classic death and doom metal, whereas "Revelation Of Glaaki" marked
the band's turning point in 1995.
Having already developed the shadowy foundation of their majestic and
atmospheric Black Metal style, the band mixed a lot of grind and melodic
keyboards into their sound, immediately adding the senses of intelligence
and advancement to their creativity. Twin Obscenity's debut album "Where
Light Touches None" was released in the summer of '97 on the Norwegian
label Head Not Found and received very enthusiastic reviews in the press
while spreading the band's name quickly throughout Europe.
In the beginning of 1998 they recorded their second album "For Blood, Honor
and Soil". Working their way through numerous moods and image settings,
Twin Obscenity's powe
r and whirlwind-like capabitlities are matched equally
with striking passages containing triumphant keyboards and angelic,
melancholy acoustic overtones. Well constructed and restrained guitar leads
and melodies, not often found in today's Extreme Metal realm, also give
"For Honour..." a very welcomed, distinguishable and memorable feel.
Continuing to set positive examples of growth and creative experiment,
while still delivering some of the darkest extreme metal around, "For
Blood..." sees Twin Obscenity taking two steps forward in hopes of
separating themselves apart from the scene's overcrowded masses. -- Century

TWIN OBSCENITY
"Where Light Touches None"
Another "Can't miss!" essential
release of Norwegian Doomy Black/Death from Head Not Found! This quartet
features Viking power-trio (Atle Wiig, Arild Toennessen, & Knut Naesje)
with operatic female vocals by Tonje Ettesvold (& special spoken vocal
contributions from Vegar Hoel of Black Lodge!)... With a variety of styles
from pure Viking Metal to grindy Swedish-styled harmonic Death, Twin
Obscenity blast forth with a massive album of brutally intense, confidently
muscular Nordic Metal that approaches Wagnerian proportions & the
atmospheric histrionics of Orff's "Carmina Burana". Rocking neo-Deathrash
balanced with dirgy operatic Doom makes for an unbeatable & interesting,
but consistent mix of styles. Fans of Einherjer, Satyricon, & Enslaved
will surely love this!
Import from Norway (on Head Not Found/Voices of Wonder!).
